Why I Love Coffee Shops, Part I

You don't hear this everyday:

"I'm working on my dissertation in musicology. My focus is pop music and I'm researching in Minneapolis for the summer because Prince has really given me a way into my topic."

Turns out it's a fascinating argument having to do with African-American music and identity; it just sounds a bit odd at first.

I heard something sad today when I was picking up R. She's a counselor at a kids' science camp. All the kids (kindergarteners) were straggling into the building after playing outside. One kid said to a group behind him, "Name calling is not allowed here."
And a ringleader type yelled at him, "SORRY! But we don't listen to babies!"

How sad is that! I forget how mean kids can be to each other. Good for the first one who stepped up. I hope he or she will do it again.

it is way sad, but I couldn't stop laughing. poor little people. i was in my car so no one could hear me, so don't worry about that.

Glad you said that because I had originally written, "Name calling is horrible. Little brat."
