I found my first gray hair when I was twenty-six and have been pulling them out ever since. Yet when I consider plucking the most visible silver hair I've ever had, right in the front of my part, I just can't do it. What does that mean?

Every time I look in the mirror, I am faced with the decision. It only takes a moment to tug it out. Gone.
What I've realized, though, is that the moment of my decision would be gone too. And it is that moment that I have grown to appreciate more than youth or beauty.
So everyday, instead, I decide to decide.

i remember seeing the first one in the mirror. it was sticking straight up out of the top of my head. instantly i thought, "i'm going to die."
that only lasted a second tho.
now i wish they'd all turn gray. this 50/50 thing is not the best.
I found my first one during my first year of teaching. v. stressful, that year was.
haven't seen so many since, but bio mom still isn't gray at 50, so I might be lucky that way. my other mom went gray at something like 24, so she was unlucky....
Anyway... i've eaten too much fair food and now must go to bed.
history: it connects us to the place we are and how far we've come. i will proudly wear my Grayhairs as a testament to the history i've endured and the strength it gave me. i will wear them as a further testament to the wisdom and grace that comes with them in age. i will decide to let those wirey haired crazy rebellious outgoing and wise Grayhairs have a party on my head and only insist that i be invited. and then, i will invite my neighbors, the Bluehairs and the Silverhairs, to join us.
jdoc, you're beautiful and i still haven't seen the Grayhair you speak of...
I don't like my own gray hairs, but I love to see them on Hubby's head and in his goatee. They are really cute - I am a gray hair hypocrit. Jdoc - I think I would love gray hairs on your head if I saw them. Besides, if you watched SATC, you would know from Samantha that if you pluck one, it will come back with ten of its friends. Hence the bozo the clown doo.
