Alright mold lovers (or is it CHEESE love that drives this behavior?) - what about those blocks of cheese where there's no unmoldy parts? Do you cut off the top layer and eat what's beneath?
Sometimes I eat raspberries with little pieces of mold on the inside that I just ignore because I paid almost $5 for these moldy raspberries and, by god, I'm gonna eat 'em!
I think it is okay to eat the cheese after the mold is cut off, but if the cheese is cracked - it is tossed. Pita and raspberry mold, no thanks. Microbiology ruined that for me.
I've also eaten eggs that are 6 weeks past the expiration date, and never so much as a stomach cramp. It was an accident the first time, but now I don't pay any attention at all to expiration dates.
I don't know, but I'm with annekris - expiration dates on bread and eggs don't matter. Milk is another matter altogether - it's consistency tells the story ...

I do that ALL the time. Perfectly safe! Mmmm-mmmm good.
Sometimes cheese is supposed to be moldy. A little penacilin (sp) never hurt. Or did it?
Love your blog. Every day. I look forward to reading it, Jess... I really do. I love reading about who you have become...

It's morning now and no known repercussions.
Lisa -- I LOVE that you read my blog. Thanks.

If we're all doing it, it must be safe. I feel now that I wrote this entry as public service. Anything else we need to figure out?

I've always wondered how long you can keep refridgerated eggs. Anyone know?
