Just some slapdash thoughts that have very little to do with anything and a lot to do with everything.

Golden
Dave and I have been trying for months to see Into the Wild and we've been mostly thwarted in our attempts. Once, after driving 20 minutes, we learned that a theater had forgotten to update their listings on the website and it wasn't actually showing. Another time we believed the City Pages when it located the Hopkins theater in Eden Prairie. FYI: it's not there. This weekend we checked four video stores only to learn their copies were out. Driving home dejected and silent, we happened upon a McDonald's and an idea. Redbox. Sure enough. Dave wouldn't let me buy any french fries, but we were both really happy with this stop. On the movie, we felt ambivalent; on the redbox, we're sold.

What is Redbox?
Ddoc
A movie kiosk at McDonald's. You can rent movies for just a dollar a day. They don't have a huge selection, but new releases and blockbusters they usually carry.
you are kidding me.
that is amazing.
i liked that movie a lot.
did you???
Loved the movie, but very sad about it. I had read the book, but the acting was just amazing and brought all of the sadness back.
We aren't totally sold on the redbox any more because Dave is having a hard time finding a McDonald's with a redbox in it to return the film. I'm not sure why he doesn't just go back to the place where we got it. That seems obvious to me.
I'm glad you finally got to see the movie. I'm obsessed w/the soundtrack, even though it makes me relive the sadness of the movie.
The Lunds near me has a Red Box - maybe other ones do too?
ITW is so sad and Eddie Vedder's voice elicits that sadness like none other. But it is a great soundtrack - I'll burn it for you JDoc.
the book and movie are both very sad. i agree, but i thought the movie was a great rendition of the book. I loved how they filled up his alone time with stuff we couldn't know, just walking around being playful in the woods, etc.
last night i watched darjeeling limited. I love those wes anderson films.
and speaking of redbox, i've been using my public library lately. Feeling very proud of myself for this.
