Today I'm thinking about gifts, and I need some help. Can anyone recommend a good book for a 2nd grade girl? I'm looking at you, LH! This girl likes to do her nails, talk a mile a minute, put fancy feathers in her hair, and participate in competitive sports. In fact, she's the state swimming champion for her age and sex. But that last category didn't stop her from beating all of the boys' times too. So, she's pretty awesome and deserves a good book or two.
Oh, and if you have any ideas for her parents, we drew their names too. They like music, food, and Scandinavian countries. And, of course, cheering for their ridiculously talented children in athletic events.
Let the ideas roll, People.

Of course I have no ideas, but I am wondering about the outcome of the return to the traps.
Three mice killed in traps. And one dead in the middle of the room. From grief, maybe?
I'd like book ideas for that age too please!
Make that five dead mice.
Can they be incorporated into a Christmas present?
I love the book Clementine for 2nd grade. Some other favorites include Fantastic Mr. Fox, Baby Mouse series (graphic novel type), Bad Kitty books, Little Horse series by Betsy Byars, E is for Elisa, and what about Fancy Nancy ???? Just some thoughts. I can check my read aloud list at school next week. Clementine is my top fave though.

Shef is obsessed with Ivy and Bean. I bet she might like them, but maybe she's already read them. Also, he recently read a series called B Magical, which is great.
I always like a good Clive Cussler novel. But I would never recommend one to anyone else.
For the parents, I suggest getting them a nice blu-ray player from Best Buy. That place has lots of great deals, and you should shop there a lot.
Excellent suggestions! Thanks, N and KC! I think we're going to go with Clementine and Ivy and Bean along with a gift receipt just in case.
dw, do you work for Best Buy?
I was going to say something about Baby Mouse. Then for the dad, you can buy him that cool shirt that says, "Real Men read Baby Mouse."
Not sure what to get the mom. Maybe a small stuffed mouse? Or you could give her a frozen mouse from one of your traps. Or put it in resin.
I like to get a theme going for fams.
I am concerned about the number of mice you have taking residence in that house. What is going on?
Sorry about your mouse situation. I thought I was going to lose my mind when we had mice. Then they all died. And I haven't seen one since we got a dog...
For the parents: Ingebretsens on Lake Street has lovely Scandinavian items. Also the Swedish Institute store.
