Done. Over. Caput. Finished.

And I passed.

All of that hard work came down to 55 minutes of conversation. It wasn't a breeze, though. One of the professors was altogether skeptical about the work of a scholar cited over and over in my paper. I didn't realize it until then, but I wanted this to be kind of hard. I wanted to actually defend something. His tough questions made me do just that, and I liked that he read my paper with the same critical eye that he reads other academics. And I handled it. Even enjoyed it.

Someday, I'll go back to that kind of work. But now. I want to rest. Long and hard.

So glad that adrenaline had a place to go - an actual defense! Now I plan to peal you off the couch and feed you grease.

Congratulations!
It would not be right if your mom had nothing to say. I am very proud of you. A celebration is well overdue. We will work on it this weekend.

I'm glad they took your BAP seriously. It wouldn't be right if they treated it any differently than a scholarly paper.

And it would not be right if your overly verbose sister didn't have something to say about this.... Something like this: WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! YIPPIEEE!!!! ABBRACADABRA!!! (Don't know where that came from...) SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We will work really hard (but not like the working hard you've been doing) at celebration this weekend - skiing, eating, vegging, eating, playing Scrabble, playing cards, soaking in the hot tub, eating, skiing, snowshoeing, eating ... Doesn't this sound fun?

Isnt it a huge relief to be done? The week after defending mine, I found myself not knowing what to do, I looked aimlessly around my house and office for things to do, but nothing...and then...Finally, I realized it was over and kicked up my boots. I hope you do the same this upcoming week...great job and congrats!
